David Griswold has had a passion for photography since he was young, but his career as a captain on the Staten Island Ferry has given him a perspective few people ever get to experience. Every day on the New York Harbor offers a different story, from changing light over the skyline, to quiet moments with the ships and wildlife that call these waters home.

While much of his work is inspired by life on the harbor, he is equally drawn to photographing the birds and natural landscapes of Staten Island. Through his photography, he hopes to share both the iconic beauty of New York and the often-overlooked moments that make this place so special.
