SHAGARA
/shah-gah-rah/
Shagara is a New York City arts and culture platform producing inclusive events, exhibitions, and programs that connect artists, organizations, and communities
Who We Are
Shagara works at the intersection of the professional arts world and the disability community — not to create separate spaces, but to dismantle the walls between them.
We produce events and exhibitions, develop fundable programs, connect artists to paid opportunities, and build the relationships that make inclusive programming sustainable. Since launching in April 2026, Shagara has produced sold-out community events, secured a NYC DCLA Premier Grant, confirmed corporate partnerships, and built a growing roster of vetted NYC artists ready to teach, perform, and collaborate.
What We Do
Events & Programming Community art nights, artist mixers, public murals, photography exhibitions, and block parties — designed to be inclusive, accessible, and genuinely worth showing up for.
Nonprofit & Corporate Partnerships We partner with organizations and companies to develop and produce programs that are fundable, executable, and built around real artist relationships. From corporate sponsorships to community activations, we connect mission-driven partners to the communities they want to reach.
Artist Connections We maintain a vetted roster of NYC artists across visual arts, music, photography, and performance — artists who are committed to inclusive, collaborative work and ready for paid opportunities.
“Shagara” comes from the Egyptian Arabic word for “tree”, reflecting a focus on building work that is rooted, intentional, and designed to grow over time.
Our Roots
Prior to founding Shagara, Carrie Ann produced inclusive arts events — including an open mic series and a fashion show — drawing hundreds of attendees and earning regional and international press coverage.
Shagara works with venues, cultural organizations, artists, and brands that are serious about inclusive programming — not as optics, but as practice.
