Sibling Social
A space to connect, share, and belong
A space of your own.
Being a sibling or family member of someone with an intellectual or developmental disability can be a meaningful part of your life, but it can also feel isolating.
Sibling Social creates opportunities to meet people who understand, build friendships, and connect beyond the responsibilities of family life.
No formal agenda. No expectations. Just a community of people who get it.
Sibling Social is a growing community, with opportunities to connect in person and stay connected throughout the year.
Community Gatherings
Meet people who understand your experience. Our social gatherings create space for siblings and family members to connect, make friends, and build community.

Where it started
On July 9, 2026, the first Sibling Social brought together siblings and extended family members for an evening of conversation, music, and connection at Sugar Mouse NYC.
Founded by Aditya “Adi” Rajan, the event grew from his own experience as the sibling of a neurodivergent brother. What began as one gathering is growing into an ongoing community.
Building this community together
Sibling Social is a Shagara program built in partnership with organizations that serve people with disabilities and their families. Shagara produces the gatherings, while community partners help connect siblings and families to the program.
Partners can support outreach, provide a venue, designate a staff liaison, or offer optional in-kind or financial support. Every community partner receives recognition as part of this shared effort.
