The Bronx Mural Project
A Large-Scale Public Mural & Block Party — Bronx, NY · Late Summer 2026
One artist designs it. Many hands bring it to life.
The Bronx Mural Project is a large-scale public mural and block party event in the Bronx. A lead artist designs and outlines the mural. Artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities from multiple NYC organizations and NYC schools each take a section — bringing their own expression, their own story, their own mark to a shared work of public art. A filmmaker documents every moment. The day culminates in a block party open to the neighborhood.
This is not art made for the disability community. This is art made by the disability community — in public, on a wall that will outlast the event and remain in the neighborhood long after the crowd goes home.
The Bronx Mural Project is produced by Shagara LLC in partnership with Kibu, with community support from the NYC District 75 school system and additional partners in development.
